Findings published today in the journal "Nature Climate Change" reveal that water temperature has a direct impact on maintaining the delicate plankton ecosystem of our oceans. Phytoplankton are microscopic plant-like organisms that rely on photosynthesis to reproduce and grow. "Phytoplankton, including micro-algae, are responsible for half of the carbon dioxide that is naturally removed from the atmosphere. As well as being vital to climate control, it also creates enough oxygen for every other breath we take, and forms the base of the food chain for fisheries so it is incredibly important for food security." said Dr. Thomas M. The new research means that ocean warming will impact plankton, and in turn drive a vicious cycle of climate change.
As what I learned in class: Plankton plays an important role in the ocean's carbon cycle by removing half of all CO2 from the atmosphere during photosynthesis and storing it deep under the sea maybe it WOULD isolated from the atmosphere for lot of years. See? this is a problem we human trying to solve in years, not even half of the people on Earth are really thinking how climate change going to change us.
Sometimes I was just think what will happen if we just let it be change. Some people might think that "Oh... I don't really care what's gonna happen, I need to live my life and I'm done, just let the scientists do the job, it's not my job". But I think it's everyone's job, we do need to collaborate so we can change the world, we need to think about generations after us.
